Port Newark, industrial beauty. There’s something so beautiful and fragile about the Port, I love it there. I have a habit of going there Thursday mornings before I start work. Behind these concrete walls are massive gasoline storage tanks. During a disastrous event, in a split second, this area could all be gone because of all the hazardous materials it houses. Something about that fragility always attracted me to this neighborhood.

Today…
I started my Newark Graffiti Post Project. For a while, I’ve been driving around Newark looking for graffiti. Today, with my cousin’s help and camera, she helped me start. There’s so much beauty in Newark that people don’t see, I’d like to show it to them. It’s one of my favorite cities.
I can’t believe I actually carried through with this project, I started March 12, 2011. There’s still a lot that I haven’t photographed or even seen.

The same wall. The top picture was taken in Mid-March, the bottom one was taking in Early September. And they say that Newark isn’t changing.
